Forget the switch....take a fast!!

I challenge everyone that reads this to a simple 1 week fast if you dare. Are you man enough? Are you woman enough? Prove to yourself what you can actually do. Don't whimp out on this one.

Here is the challenge:
Instead of stressing over the governments forcing the tv broadcasting change from analog to digital and worrying about what you will miss out on, look at it as an opportunity to give your eyes and brain a break and spend a short and quick 1 week fasting from the TV. Record the time that you would have spent watching tv and then record what you did in place of that (and no, watching movies with the family doesn't count......this fast includes movies and video games). For those of us that are Christians, spend some extra time reading and studying God's Word, listen to God's Word, listen to Christian radio, spend more time with the family, play some games, get outside, throw a party, get creative, more "spouse time".

After the week is over, go ahead and watch tv again, unless you are really liking what you are doing more of instead. I guarantee that you will be amazed and even shocked perhaps at what you allowed yourself and perhaps your family to watch on tv. We don't even realize how far we have gone in what we allow into our minds and homes and kids until we are forced to examine it. "We don't know what we have til its gone" rings very true but in this case its a negative thing.

The media moguls are wise to this about human nature (sin nature) and take advantage of it by pushing the envelope just a little further all the time. We let them have an inch one day.....suddenly they have pushed us 49.2 miles away from our original standards that we so desperately need to get back to.

So go ahead and take the challenge (unless you are like us and don't watch much tv anyway, and I mean not much. We get 3 channels where we are, all pretty fuzzy, and usually only have Dora, LIttle People, or Clifford in the DVD player lately).

Are you up to the challenge?? I dare you !!!

this is a really good idea...I have been turning the tv off more simply b/c the boys start crowding each other and gluing their faces to the screen....playing is much more fun....bring on summer!

Great idea, bro! I like the ideas, other than going outside (since it's been 5 degrees). Last week I hung out with friends on Mon-Thurs nights and on Saturday. I didn't miss the tv shows I usually watch at all. My Dad would love this writeup!
